Minor Treatments

The treatment for infertility can depend upon many parameters, including but not limited to age, duration of infertility, root cause of infertility, general health, etc. The following may be recommended, singularly, or in combination with one another, to patients who suffer from infertility. The following list does not include any options of assisted conception, information regarding which may be found on the Assisted Conception page.

1 / Increase the Frequency of Intercourse

Through sheer probability, there is a higher chance to get pregnant when the frequency of intercourse is higher. The doctor may advise to have frequent sexual intercourse around the time of ovulation. Tracking your menstrual cycle may aid in determining a ‘fertile window’ whether the chances of conception are higher.

2 / Lifestyle Changes

Doctors may also recommend certain lifestyle changes which would hopefully help increase the chances of infertility. These changes can range anywhere from changing to a healthy diet, to regular exercise, to quitting smoking.

3 / Fertility Drugs

Certain fertility drugs may be recommended to regularize abnormal ovulation cycles, fix hormone abnormalities, increase general health through vitamins, etc. Fertility drugs can either take the form of pills or injections. Specific drugs that target issues that hinder fertility would differ from patient to patient, and a physician often prescribes these medications accordingly.

4 / Antibiotic Treatments

If the lead cause of infertility is determined to be of a bacterial cause, antibiotics may be prescribed to treat infections in reproductive organs.

for Infertility

For Women

1 / Fallopian Tube Recanalization

In this non-surgical procedure, radiologists treat blockages using a catheter to clear any small blockages in the fallopian tube, which may be preventing the sperm from reaching the egg. The process has a 90% success rate and is non-invasive.

2 / Surgery

For women who suffer from endometriosis, a laparoscopic surgery may be recommended, where an incision Is maid in the abdomen and a laparoscope, or a specially developed microscope, is passed through it. This can help surgeons remove implants, scar tissue or any further blockages.

For Men

1 / Erectile Dysfunction & Premature Ejaculation Drugs

Drugs may be recommended by doctors to reduce any erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation issues that could be affecting sperm delivery.

2 / Surgery

A varicocele, which is the surgical removal of a varicose vein, which is probably on the scrotum, may be recommended to improve sperm quality. Another example of surgery to treat male factor infertility may be for a blocked epididymis. The epididymis is a tube that helps store and transport sperm, the blockage of which might lead to ejaculation problems.
